Rhubarb Radio wants to hear from young people aged 13-19, and creative adults too, who want to get involved in radio broadcasting. This is a unique opportunity to present and produce your own radio show to your community- there’s all sorts of opportunities available. Maybe you want to run live outside broadcasts from the best venues and events, perhaps you want to host a chat show, or maybe run a radio drama or comedy show... it’s not all about dj-ing, there’s plenty that happens behind the scenes.
If presenting your own show isn’t your thing, then maybe you want to join our team of producers, researchers, fundraisers, marketing & PR, web designers, administrators, mentors, or perhaps you are looking for a link into the city’s vibrant creative industries...
Participants can enrol onto a 12 week broadcasting course that is accredited via the Duke of Edinburgh Awards Scheme, ASDAN or the Arts Award. During your time with us, you will be given the skills to broadcast live and the opportunity to explore other possible career routes into radio. Each course attracts guest speakers from local radio stations and involves at least one day spent with the BBC to help with your development. Once you have completed your course that does not mean the end though - we will actively encourage you to come back and broadcast, produce, research and get involved with our team. You can also help train new students, and become involved in events and other multimedia projects that we get involved in from time to time... the choice really is yours.
