Sunday City Musicbox is not genre specific, but is best summed up a world music show. Expect soul, funk, folk, klezme, Arabic, reggae, ragga, dancehall, Latin and a sprinkling of hip-hop.

Guest presenters and music specials are also something to look out for, as the show takes a look at relevant artists of the past and present. Sunday City Musicbox aims to bring you shows which offer familiar mainstream classics and dedications alongside underground, rare and cutting edge

examples of international and Birmingham based talent.

Each show should leave you with a mix of the familiar, the forgotten and the newly discovered.

About Shelley Rootz

Since moving to the city in 2000 to complete a degree in Media, Culture and Society at The University of Birmingham, Shelley has been passionately involved in the city's vibrant and diverse music scene, becoming an ambassador, in particular, for the wealth of live 'world' music that is available locally, thanks to Birmingham's ever-changing cultural landscape.

Around this time, Shelley also began training as a dancer and began organising events which celebrated music and dance, as well as visual arts. Working for various arts organisations, Shelley gained experience as an events coordinator, stage manager and general

promoter, looking at innovative ways in which to present traditional and contemporary artists to new audiences.

Shelley now runs her own company, Arts DeVille, offering project and event management, marketing, online promotion and a music, dance and arts agency.
