Having problems hearing Rhubarb Radio?
"I can't hear anything"
If you're listening to the main studio stream and you can't hear anything, first make sure your speakers are turned on and that your computer's sound output isn't muted.
- If running Windows, check the volume icon on the bottom right of your screen. If it has a red line through it, it's muted. Just give it a single click, then hit the "Mute" button. This should un-mute the audio.
- If running Mac OS, check the volume icon at the top right of your screen. Click on the icon and make sure the drop-down fader is up high.
If the buttons of the player look greyed out and you can't click on them, there may be a temporary problem with the stream. Please check back in an hour or so, and the problem should be resolved.
"The output stutters or breaks up"
It's possible your Internet connection may not be fast enough, or is experiencing problems. We recommend at least a 1 megabit connection to the Internet. Check your Internet service provider's documentation to find out what speed you're receiving.
"My computer starts running slowly"
Adobe Flash has a bug in its software, which means it saves a copy of the audio you're listening to, in your computer's memory. When you close your browser (including any other browser windows you have open) and restart it, you should be able to resume listening.
Alternatively, you can use the "Play in your desktop media player" link which is underneath the player. This will allow you to play the stream in your software of choice: iTunes, Winamp, Real Player, etc. Once the stream opens up in your software, you must close your web browser (or if you're running multiple tabs, just close the tab containing the player) otherwise your computer will continue to run slowly.
