Chris Beatz

Chris is a London ex-pat who’s been turntablizing Birmingham for 7 years now. He cut his teeth on the gritty drum ’n’ bass/breakbeat circuit, playing for the likes of Marcus Intalex, Logistics and Radio 1’s Fabio, while running many, many events with Birmingham Uni’s TwelveTen society. Since then, his versatility has increased in proportion to his infamous ‘ten tonne’ record collection.

While still enjoying the moody dubstep and jungle scenes, he is now just as likely to be found spinning funk, reggae and hip-hop now, often mashing up the most unlikely combinations to get things moving.

On Rhubarb, his Batacucu shows are world music-based, with a hefty dose of Latin beats and thumping bass. Occasional contributor Jonny Five also assists with an even more diverse spread of eclecticism.
